The title is divided into 6 Kands - Bala Kand, Ayodhya Kand, Aranya Kand, Kishkindha Kand, Sunder Kand and Yuddha Kand. Composed by Rishi Valmiki about 5000 years ago, the Ramayana tells the story of Rama, Prince of Ayodhya. It is an epic of magnificent proportions and a timeless tale of heroism and courage, of love and loyalty, and of the triumph of good over evil. Though Amar Chitra Katha has done much smaller versions of the story, this particular set comprises, in detail, all the kands or volumes of the Ramayana. Scripted by Harini Gopalswami Srinivasan, the Ramayana has been illustrated by Zoheb Momin, Sabu Sarasan, Sundarlal, Durgesh Velhal and Arijit Dutta Chowdhury. Each artist has brought to the table his own skill and imagination. The script has been vetted by Mangala Kumari, a Ramayana scholar.
