The Economist Newspaper Limited

The Economist Group is owned by The Financial Times Group which is a part of the Japanese media corporation Nikkei Inc. It was created in 1946. The group has two distinct verticles, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and the Economist Events. The first one provides research and analytical services, and the second conducts conferences and events. The magazine has a global circulation of over 1.5 million this includes both print and digital. North America and Europe accounts for around half of its readers. The magazine/newspaper is noted for its brief and analytical reporting style, as well as its editorial independence and liberal viewpoint. The Economist's publisher is Zanny Minton Beddoes, who became the newspaper/first magazine's female editor in 2015. Beddoes was born in the United States and attended Oxford University.
