Filmmaker and artist Amar Kanwar, quite effortlessly and ingeniously, brings out the core of our theme – Cinema & Art – this issue. The darkness leading to gradual light, and the light bleeding into the darkness, where the edges are not so much blurred as they are intertwined, is the perfect representation of the inter- relationship between cinema and art, and the journeys they take within (and without) the spectrum of creative expression. But, perhaps, the most telling statement of this cover, and therefore the most telling narrative for our issue itself, is that the inherent beauty of darkness is what lights up our cinema, and that art can exist, quite effortlessly and ingeniously, on a blank canvas, a silver screen or the black sky.
